Copper prices ended with gains on reported progress in trade negotiations between Washington and Beijing.
China's imports of refined copper are set to fall 14.7 percent this year as the country churns out more metal domestically.
Chilean state miner Codelco produced slightly less copper in 2018 than the year before, as it continued to contend with declining ore grades.
